| SELCA

Selca has a population of approximately 1000 inhabitants, a hundred of which live in a total of 5
hamlets, with a slightly smaller number living in the attractive new beach complexes located
a mere 2 km away from the town. These beach complexes, Puntinak and Ružmarin, offer a variety of
holiday homes for guests. Although it is a recently established Brac settlement, Selca has
its own interesting history and rich cultural past. Despite occupying a small area, it offers an
abundance of culturally significant monuments.
The rock is Selce's symbol of protection; rock ennobled by the industrious hands of peasant
quarrymen, piled up according to an exceptional urban design, stone buildings surrounded by an
exquisite park. Selce is, in its dimensions, a large-sized village, but in its appearance it looks
like a Mediterranean town in miniature. It enjoys an uninterrupted view of the sea with uninhibited
access to its lovely bays and swimming areas: Radonja, Puntinak, Ruzmarin, Tenki ratac, Spilice,
Hrvaska... Selce also offers a great variety of gastronomic delights thanks to its thriving hospitality
industry. And yet, Selce's most treasured possession remains those who are responsible for preserving
this heritage: the hard-working, intelligent and hospitable people of this town.

POVLJA
The north-eastern side of Brac is formed by a massive bay which is made up of a number of large and
small sized coves. Povaljska luka is the most eastern cove, from which the settlement of Povlja took
its name. The long and rich history of Povlja stretches back to Roman times. The old-Christian basilica
from the 5th century and the old-Christian baptismal font and kartular from the l2th
century represent just some of the cultural offerings of Povlja. Approximately 400 people live in
Povlja today. The main industries are fishing, quarrying, olive growing and, of course, tourism.
Tourism forms the basis of the local economy.
Povlja - a place of the unspoiled natural ambience of pinewood, lavander and rosemary.
The modesty, simplicity and hospitality of the local population, its fresh seafood, local cuisine
and good wine, make this a unique Mediterranean experience and is a sure guarantee of a peaceful and
pleasant stay in Povlja.

SUMARTIN
Sumartin is a village which enjoys a rich fishing, marine and craft tradition. Traces of these
traditions can be found today in the homes and manors of old Sumartin sea captains, as well as in the
local convent museum which houses a variety of artefacts and documents pertaining to the settlement's
history. Fortunately, the ages-old mariners craft has not become extinct. It lives on even today, and
experienced Sumartin mariners, boat-builders, fishermen and labourers will be more than happy to
introduce you to their trade. If you enjoy walking in the outdoors, then there are a number of
opportunities open to you. You can visit the old-Croatian church of St. Nicholas from the 9th century,
visit the shrine in the cave of Lucica with a statue of the Virgin Mother or wander through the olive
groves to the Sumartin hamlet of Rasatica. And when you feel like swimming, the sea is close by.
Crystal clear. Empty, all yours... Yes, this is possible, as you have come to one of those rare hidden
recesses in the world where a person can be completely alone, where they can enjoy nature at its most elemental
and original.
Sumartin's very hospitable inhabitants will be pleased to entertain you in their homes.
