Sibenik is a town situated in the central part of
croatian Adriatic coast, in an idilical irregual bay, submerged
estuarium of the river Krka, one of the most beautiful karst rivers.
Today Sibenik is a political, economical, social and cultural
centar. Sibenik and Knin county, whose territory goes along
the coast, makes beautiful sibenik riviera, long over 100 km that
goes up to 25 km in continent .
Sibenik and Knin county with surface of 1860 km2 has
continental and insular part with 242 islands and cliffs
(inhabited island are Zlarin, Prvic, Kaprije, Zirje, and Murter),
with Kornat archipelago distinguished for its picturesque
significance. Long canyons of the rivers Krka and Cikola, as
well as Prokljansko jezero lake and Sibenik channel divide this area
in two parts. Krka is at the same time a link that integrates north
and central part of Dalmatia into a unique area - SIBENIK AREA.
This territory is under influence of mediterranean climate with
average year temperature of 15,7 C, average seven hours of sun per
day with 886 l of rain per year. Vegetation is mostly evergreen,
mediterranean, and in the continent submediterranean vegetation .
Sibenik is a historical Croatian city, with rich history,
and a civilization center in present times. It is a city of rich
spiritual and material culture, with touristic tradition and
identity as well.
