Omis is a picturesque town of true Mediterranean atmosphere situated at the mouth of the Cetina river. It is the town where a famous festival of Dalmatian folk songs and melodies is held annually. Omis lies in the middle between famous tourist centers Split and Makarska. Its history has been tumultuous since ancient times; in the Middle Ages its unconquerable fortress was the refuge of Omis pirates.
