"I strongly believe that it would be extremely hard to understand correctly the value of our
heritage if we did not learn how to live the present and if we did not pursue those revitalizing
efforts that encourage real values in the terms of quality, harmony and equilibrium. It would be
very difficult to evaluate the cultural influence of the past if our cities were not built on
contemporary qualitative standards".

Association from Split, Croatia and The Berlage Institute from Amsterdam, The Netherlands, are
organising the International Architectural Seminar on Diocletian Palace in Split. The Seminar will
take place in Split, September 8-13, 1997.
The purpose of the Seminar is to do architectural research of the contemporary phenomena of the
life in the Palace with regard to the physical structure of the Palace. It is to provide insights into
the programmes and formal future of the Palace as a basis for alternative development scenarios
of the city core of Split.
We will be glad if your schedule will allow you to join us in Split in
September.
